Make your art easy to read. When the viewer looks at your art piece they need to see exactly what you want them to see. If you take you picture and shrink it down in size can you still tell easily what is going on? How about when you submit art to Deviant, can you tell what your image is when it is shrunk down to thumbnail size? This is why painters take steps back from their work to admire a painting. Up close can look very different than far away, and yet both views should be appealing.
